The Paradox of Fitness in the Military
PREVIEW: I recently learned that the Army launched a fitness program called Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) in 2020. While going down an Army fitness rabbit hole, I found an article titled; Army says fitness plan cut injuries and drug use, aids mental health. My immediate thought was, how does increasing fitness aid in preventing drugs and mental health in the military? The solution is finally to work smarter, not harder. What exactly is H2F? H2F is an all-encompassing physical and mental readiness program that focuses on improving physical, mental, spiritual, nutritional, and sleep quality. The Army wants to promote an all-around healthier soldier through senior leadership by implementing and enhancing its H2F fitness program. To learn more about the program, see the handbook HERE. I was more curious about why H2F was only recently created. Did the Army not see these issues previously?
